Sticks & Stones Anti-bullying Workshop and Awareness Session

The Parents Association has funded an anti-bullying workshop for the school from the Sticks and Stones orgaisation (see link for more details).

The last workshop at St Mary's was about 3 years ago, and was thought to be extremely worthwhile for the school. Tthe Sticks & Stones creative approach is a very effective way of addressing the important anti-bullying issue.

Part of the Workshop is an evening Awareness Session, which is attended by Parents and Teachers. The PA Committee encourages as many parents as can to attend this session - among other things, you will gain an awareness and understanding of the hugely important issue of cyber-bullying, something that few of us will have first-hand knowlege of. This is happening at 7:30pm on Wednesday 8th February, in the School Hall (or in a classroom if it's not available - to be confirmed).

Having taken the decision to use PA funds for this - which was very much appreciated by those who were there, last time it was run - we do hope that a good number of parents will attend and make it worthwhile.

Parents' Social Evening - Ceili

The PA is aiming to organise a Parents' social evening with a Ceili band, probably at The Railway House, Bagenalstown. Date to be announded. The idea is to give all parents the chance to meet and enjoy the evening.

The plan is for the event to be open to everyone, with a charge of €5 per person on the door to cover the cost of the band. The idea is to have a bit of fun (no pressure to sell tickets for fundraising!)

More details of the band etc will be here soon.

Christmas Flowers

The Christmas Flowers event was held at the Lord Bagenal Inn on Thursday 1st December. It was a great success, and our thanks go to Helen Lucas and Anne Archbold for their excellent demonstration, and to all who attended and supported this important fundraising event.

Any Old Phones?

There is a collecting box for mobile phones in the school. These will be exchanged for cash and/or computing equipment for the school. Please look out any old phones and put them in the box!
